Half of BookTok checks the window locks because of this man. Zade Meadows is the lead in H. D. Carlton's Cat and Mouse duet. He's a hacker running a network built to tear down traffickers, and at one book signing he decides Adeline Reilly is his.
Looking for our Zade? He's a different man. Zade Masked writes Behind the Mask, an original serial with its own Zade, nothing to do with H. D. Carlton's. They'd probably get on. Meet our Zade.

Who is Zade Meadows?
By day he's a ghost with too much money and too many screens. He leads Z, a crew that hunts trafficking rings and the powerful people who keep them safe. Then he sees Adeline, and the job gets company. He watches her. He gets into her house. He leaves her roses. He makes it plain he isn't going anywhere. The book writes him as protector and predator at once and never lets either side win. That's the pull. It's also why readers still argue about him.
What does Zade look like?
Tall and built like he means it. His eyes don't match. One is so dark it reads as black. The other is ice blue, nearly white, with a scar cutting straight down through it. He wears his scars from the war on traffickers like a medal.
Zade's signature traits
- He narrates his half of the book as "The Shadow"
- Calm, dry, almost polite, and that's when he's most dangerous
- Single-minded: by the time he wants something, the plan's already moving
- No mercy for anyone who hurts women or kids, or anyone who looks at Adeline too long
Red flags: every one of them, honestly. Green flag: he'll burn down a trafficking ring for you.
